Virgin Galactic has launched its first commercial spaceflight, “Galactic 01,” on Thursday. The VMS Eve took off around 10:30 carrying the VSS Unity spacecraft. The spacecraft is carrying the crew and four passengers who will conduct 13 experiments studying microgravity, cosmic radiation data and fluid dynamics during the 90-minute flight.
Virgin Galactic shares have been trading under volatility during the month of June rising on the announcement of the expected commercial spaceflight and falling after the company’s announcement of another at-the-market stock offering of $400 million.
