Tesla has announced the availability of its latest home energy storage solution, the Powerwall 3, for U.S. customers.

Priced at $5,880 after including a 30% Federal tax credit but before installation fees, the cost remains unchanged from its predecessor, the Powerwall 2. The new unit maintains an energy capacity of 13.5kWh but boasts several significant upgrades in specifications and design.

The Powerwall 3 integrates a solar inverter with six solar inputs, an increase from the previous four, enhancing its capability to interface with home solar installations. It offers an 11.5 kW continuous power supply when connected to the grid and can also deliver a continuous backup power of 11.5kW, a substantial 64% increase over the Powerwall 2.

Furthermore, it is now designed to be flood-resistant to over two feet, an essential feature for areas prone to flooding. Customers looking to expand their system can add up to 40.5 kWh at any time.

Weighing 287 lbs, the Powerwall 3 is 16% lighter than the previous Powerwall+ model and comes in a sleek design with dimensions of 43.25 inches by 24 inches by 7.6 inches. It can be scaled up to four units, providing a customizable approach to home energy storage.

Tesla has also made the Powerwall 3 less expensive to manufacture and easier to install than the previous model, indicating potential savings for both the company and consumers over time.

With these advancements, Tesla continues to push the boundaries of energy storage technology for residential use.
