OnePlus Launches New Flagship Phone With A Whopping 24GB RAM And Qualcomm’s Latest Chipset

The OnePlus 12 is nearly twice as bright as Google's Pixel 8 Pro, which has been the brightest phone on the market until now.

OnePlus 12 is the latest flagship smartphone from the company, and it comes with some eye-watering features – a whopping 24GB of RAM and Qualcomm Inc.’s (NASDAQ:QCOM) latest chipset, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.

What Happened: OnePlus’ latest flagship smartphone comes filled to the brim with top-tier hardware and a giant camera module on the back, just like its predecessor.

The crème-de-la-crème of the OnePlus 12 is the chip at the heart of it – it is one of the first phones in the world to be launched with Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset.

The front of the phone is dominated by the large 6.82-inch Quad HD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

It also gets extremely bright – its peak brightness is rated at 4,500 nits, nearly 90% brighter than Google’s Pixel 8 Pro at 2,400 nits, which was the brightest phone available until now.

The iconic OnePlus mute slider is also present but has been moved to the left side. OnePlus has instead placed a new integrated antenna on the right side to improve connectivity.

The top-tier variant of the OnePlus 12 has a whopping 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.

At $818, it costs just as much as Alphabet Inc.’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Pixel 8 Pro with 12GB of RAM and 128GB storage.

On the other hand, Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone 15 also starts at the same price point and offers 6GB of RAM and 128GB storage.

Other Specs That Matter: OnePlus 12’s cameras have been tuned in partnership with Hasselblad – the phone has a 50MP primary camera with the Sony LYT-808 sensor, a 64MP periscope camera with support for 3x optical zoom, a 48MP ultrawide angle camera, and a 32MP selfie camera on the front.

The phone is powered by a massive 5,400mAh battery and supports 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The wireless charging feature has made a comeback after the OnePlus 11 skipped it earlier this year.

Other features include Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, 5G, an in-display fingerprint sensor, and a new vibration motor that OnePlus claims is better than the one in Apple’s iPhones.

The OnePlus 12 is expected to be launched globally in January.
