What To Know: According to an article by TechCrunch, the company announced the decision on its official WeChat account on Tuesday. The purpose is to “‘design, create, and deploy’ AI systems for automation and autonomous vehicles.”

Leading the unit is Xinzhou Wu, hired by Nvidia in August, who brings with him expertise in employing smart driving features in the Chinese AV market, as well as experience from his former role as head of autonomous vehicles at Xpeng.

While Nvidia is barred from exporting its most powerful AI GPUs to China under U.S. export controls, automotive products are not currently impacted.
