Google (NASDAQ:GOOGL) (NASDAQ:GOOG) has recently ramped up its usage of the social discussion platform Reddit to provide technical support for its Pixel phones, with the shift becoming noticeable since the end of September.
The tech giant’s presence on Reddit (operating under the u/PixelCommunity profile) was previously irregular, especially when contrasted with its Twitter activity. Extended periods would pass without any replies, and posts were infrequent, reported 9to5Google.
The narrative began to alter towards the end of March when Google re-introduced itself on Reddit via the Pixel Support Team profile, promising to engage more actively with the community and help resolve user issues. However, the company didn’t start posting multiple responses daily until September’s end.

The nature of Reddit allows for longer, more detailed responses, often including step-by-step instructions to fix common issues. Additionally, Google regularly directs users to their full support help articles and occasionally to phone or chat support for more intricate problems.
Compared to Google’s own ‘Community’ forums, Reddit users receive more direct and official responses while benefiting from the insights of fellow users. This support channel primarily concentrates on Google’s Pixel phones, including the Fold model, but occasionally addresses queries about the Tablet. It actively monitors several Pixel-related subreddits, with the primary focus on r/Google Pixel, which boasts over a million subscribers.
