Rivian R1 EVs To Offer Tesla’s New Model 3-Like Customization For Interior Mood: ‘We’re Working On It’

Responding to a user's request on X for mood-dependent interior lighting options, Rivian confirmed their efforts to implement this feature.

EV startup Rivian Automotive Inc. (NASDAQ:RIVN) announced earlier this week that it is working on customizable interior ambient lighting for its R1 model, similar to Tesla’s refreshed Model 3 sedan

Responding to a user’s request on X for mood-dependent interior lighting options, Rivian confirmed their efforts to implement this feature.

“We’re working on it!” Rivian said on X.

The company showcased its ability to modify interior lighting during Halloween 2023, transitioning the white ambient lighting to orange for a festive atmosphere.

Why It Matters: This move highlights Rivian’s commitment to enhancing user experience and personalization within their vehicles.

Ambient lighting, comprising mostly LED accent lights, contributes significantly to the overall ambiance of a car’s interior.

Notably, electric vehicles like the 2024 Porsche Taycan and Kia EV6 also offer impressive ambient lighting options.

Despite Rivian’s R1 vehicles starting at approximately $70,000 — priced higher than the Model 3 and Kia EV6 but below the premium Porsche Taycan — they aim to provide comparable features, ensuring a competitive edge in the electric vehicle market.
