In China, Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ:TSLA) is pushing through an update to its over-the-air (OTA) software, which improves voice commands and navigation among other enhancements.

As reported by Teslarati, the software upgrade, dubbed 2023.26, is currently exclusive to China. Tesla often begins its rollouts in limited areas before extending them to wider regions.

The update brings enhancements to context-based voice commands. As Tesla explains in the release notes, voice commands have been improved to better understand driver requests. The vehicle will now automatically begin navigating if a location’s name is said, or adjust the audio volume up or down based on a comment about it being too loud or too quiet.

The new update also includes upgrades to the navigation system, bringing in factors such as real-time traffic conditions for better routes and faster responses to route changes when the “Online Routing” setting is turned on.

Moreover, the OTA update also revamps the Himalaya audio app, a China-specific app dedicated to courses, motivational stories, and podcast-like content.

While Tesla’s voice commands still have room for improvement, this update showcases Tesla’s commitment to continuous enhancements of its vehicle systems.
