A revealing image of what appeared to be Tesla Inc.’s (NASDAQ:TSLA) potential robotaxi surfaced within “Elon Musk,” the Musk biography by Walter Isaacson that is coming out tomorrow (Sept. 12).
This compact, three-wheeled vehicle notably accommodates three passengers and a modest amount of luggage with its single bench seat. While the image is merely a rendering and the vehicle is still in prototype form, it offered a glimpse into Tesla’s autonomous mobility ambitions.

The absence of a traditional steering wheel and pedals underscored Tesla’s vision for full autonomy. This robotaxi concept is designed to operate without human intervention, further emphasizing Tesla’s commitment to autonomous driving technology. It’s worth noting Tesla plans to extend autonomy across its entire vehicle lineup, which could allow the company to participate in a ride-sharing service akin to Uber Technologies Inc’s (NYSE:UBER) ridesharing program.
